The victory in the Historic Pact coalition was won by the ex-mayor of Bogota and also the former senator of Republic. He was officially a candidate for Presidency of the Republic and is the position he has always wanted to achieve for the third time in a row.

Despite his controversial views on a variety of fronts and ideas, the high voting during the consultation has made him the most representative of Colombia's left.

https://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gustavo_Petro Petro has stated that he plans to make a change to pensions through the establishment of a public administrator to pension funds. Petro also plans to develop an investment system which can be "mixed-and-complementary" and private fund.

The candidate has stated that in Colombia "we don't have a pension system, but banks have a profit system," so many claim that he would end the possibility of achieving the presidency. But, Petro recently said that he would not eliminate them but would pursue reforms to pensions to ensure a minimum pension for Colombians. Petro also said that there was no need to increase the retirement age.

Another issue that has caused controversy is the fact that he's repeatedly stated that he'll stop oil extraction before the time he assumes office. https://www.eltiempo.com/bogota/luis-ernesto-gomez-reacciones-por-su-llegada-a-campana-de-gustavo-petro-674840 This has been a matter that has caused anxiety for investors.

Experts estimate that Petro’s proposal to end exploration of oil in Colombia will result in a cost of approximately $4.3 billion.

Added to this proposal is the idea of establishing an anti-oil front in the region and around the world, which moves the economy away from fossil fuels, for which I'd like to invite the president-elect of Chile, Gabriel Boric, and the Brazilian Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, and other people.

His position on health is as well controversial. He has called for the ending of EPS and has replaced it with a model of preventive medicine that "guarantees human rights not the profit margins of bankers."

He also has questioned the legitimacy of the Banco de la Republica and declared that he will implement a change in the event of becoming President.

According to Petro, "the Board of Directors of the Bank is part of a political party, the Democratic Center" and therefore, "what we want is a truly independent Bank of the Republic (...) it's to me crucial that the Board of Directors has the presence of the public," said the candidate in the middle of an argument.

Invamer reports that Petro is the leader in terms of voting intentions for the presidential elections.

The idea of creating funds to finance government expenditure was not without controversy.
