Have you ever played Minecraft on an M1 Mac



Hi there!



Looking at the reviews for the new Macs, especially the MacBook Pro, I'm very inclined to upgrade from my Surface Pro 4 to a Mac. I used to be a Mac user back in the Snow Leopard to Mavericks days, but I changed to Windows in the past few years.



I have a bunch of programs that I use that I've heard users say that work perfectly on M1, but does anyone know if Minecraft (Java) can be played on an M1 Mac? It's one of my most played games I don't believe I could replace my PC with one that didn't run my favourite game. Java is available on ARM however I've never heard of anyone playing Minecraft on an M! Mac!

It is highly recommended. The M1 Mac will blow your surface out of the water performance wise. It's only a matter time before Minecraft is optimized for the M1. It's possible to run either version until then. Bedrock (because M1's are able to natively run iOS/iPadOS apps now) and Java (translated real-time running Rosetta 2 that is built in. You won't notice a difference).

Information from the video: Java does not have an official M1 app , therefore it has to utilize Rosetta 2 Emulation.



He compared the Baseline 7 core GPU MacBook Air to the Baseline8-core GPU MacBook Pro. The MBP generated the world (same seeds on both) at a speed of a second, but the MacBook Air seemed a bit faster for whatever reason (he used the same settings for graphics on both).



The problem in this review is that he had vsync on, so the FPS limit is set at 60 FPS. It would be interesting to see how much it can go.



iOS, Android and Windows 10 versions of Minecraft all play nicely together, whereas the PC and Mac versions of Minecraft are not compatible with a Pocket Edition Realms server. In other words that if you own an iOS device and your buddies are all playing on Android it is still possible to play with them.
