Journal Entry #1: The Ferragamos
As I've stated to my good and nice pal, Tom Larro, many times - oh, how I want I could return to November of 1978 to attend the infamous JUDY GARLAND MEMORABILIA AND Art Auction. internet site made headlines even in my native small town North Carolina paper but at 18 with no cash it was approach out of my vary. I did get the auction catalog which offered on the time for $25.

I was very intrigued with the wardrobe and sneakers. There were a dozen couture items, a number of from THE JUDY GARLAND Present, and personal couture as effectively. There were nearly two dozen pair of Salvatore Ferragamo shoes. Even at that early age I knew that these shoes have been made by the famous Italian shoe maker who had finished custom made footwear for Jackie Kennedy, the Duchess of Windsor and Marilyn Monroe. These sneakers were all customized made for every consumer and Judy had two dozen in a rainbow of colours. They had been all listed as dimension 6 and half but were extra like a US five and customized made to miss Garland's very slim foot. All have been pumps with a 4 inch spike heel.

A number of years later within the mid 1980s I saw an ad in HOLLYWOOD STUDIO Magazine advertising a pair of black pumps from the auction. I instantly wrote to the lady, Alice Garza, only to obtain a notice again saying they have been sold.

Almost https://www.flexdriverforums.com/members/gormanmartensen87/activity/75179/ of lovely black silk-lined Ferragamos with ornament came up on the public sale block. They were from the 1978 auction and had the original public sale receipt, merchandise # 113G. The bidding was furious, however I used to be able to win them. I had no idea until I obtained them that they were the truth is the pair that were provided almost 25 years earlier than by the lady in HOLLYWOOD STUDIO Magazine. Her identify was on the receipt.

Judy's Ferragamos are one of many favorite gadgets in my collection. I do know of only three different pair in followers' fingers and sometimes surprise where all those others are.
