Anyone played Minecraft on an M1 Mac?



Hi there!



The reviews of the latest Macs, particularly the MacBook Pro, make me desire to upgrade my Surface Pro 4 to a Mac. I used to be a Mac user during the Snow Leopard to Mavericks days however, I switched to Windows a few years ago.



I have many programs that which I've heard are compatible on M1 however, do you know if Minecraft (Java) is compatible on an M1 Mac. It's among my favorite games, and I don't think I could replace my PC with a computer that doesn't support my favorite game. Minecraft Towny Servers is available for ARM, but I've never heard of anyone playing Minecraft on an M! Mac!

Highly recommend it. The M1 Mac will blow your surface to the ground performance wise. It's only a matter of time until Minecraft is optimized to the M1. As of now you'll be able to run both versions. Bedrock (because M1's are able to natively run iOS/iPadOS apps now) as well as Java (translated real-time running Rosetta 2 that is built into. You won't even notice the differences.



I tried to side load Minecraft to my M1 Mac, but the keyboard and mouse wouldn't work. How did you side load it?

Information from the video: Java does not have a native M1 app , therefore it has to utilize Rosetta 2 Emulation.



He compared the Baseline 7-core GPU MacBook Air to the Baseline 8-core GPU MacBook Pro. The MBP produced the world (same seed on both) about a second faster however the MacBook Air seemed to be getting a bit more FPS for some reason (he was using same graphics settings on both).



This comparison has a problem. Minecraft Towny Servers didn't shut down vsync and the FPS is only 60 FPS. Minecraft Towny Servers would have been interesting to see how high it could go.



iOS, Android and Windows 10 versions of Minecraft all play well together, whereas the PC and Mac versions of Minecraft are not compatible with a Pocket Edition Realms server. Also If you own an iOS device and your buddies are all on Android it is still possible to play with them.
