What makes a Realtor different from a realtor? The biggest difference between an Realtor and a realtor comes down to their licensing requirements. You might have heard the terms used often interchangeably, and maybe you have even wondered what the difference actually is between these two professionals. Simply put, although they all complete similar tasks as defined by the real estate industry they are held to slightly different criteria as set by the real estate industry.





A realtor comes in many different types as well as variations. There is the licensed Realtor, or the full-fledged broker. A Realtor broker has more education and has gone through the same licensing process as other real estate professionals, including courses on real estate law, public speaking and business networking. Brokers don't just deal in houses but deal in a variety of different properties as well.





One of the most important differences between a realtor vs real estate agent comes from how they handle certain issues such as client referrals. While real estate agents get clients by the realtor referral, a realtor gets clients through other methods. Some agents simply work with existing clients and some do other kinds of work such as working through private networks and selling market listings.





Other important differences include the hours that realtor's spend working per year on the job. While cambridge apartments need to work on commission in most states, there are those that do significantly more. In fact, in some states, realtor's may have to spend more than 90 hours on the job.





There are other differences as well, such as the number of licenses a realtor must hold to legally practice. There are many requirements that must be met in order to become a realtor. One is that the agent must become licensed by the (National Association of Realtors) to practice. The National Association of Realtors has a strict code of ethics and requirements for its members. In order to become a member, an agent must pass a rigorous examination administered by the organization. It is important to become a member of the (NAROM).





The number of years that an individual must hold their license varies. Most require at least five years of experience and another five years of education, although realtors can often get additional training after licensing. A realtor can also get additional education if they choose to become an architect or a geologist. Becoming an independent contractor is also a way to increase experience and knowledge. When deciding whether or not to become a realtor, individuals should consider whether they would prefer to spend most of their time on the job, traveling from location to location and performing tasks that include but are not limited to: meeting with prospective clients, collecting rents, selling properties, closing real estate deals, working with buyers and sellers, handling tasks related to financing, advertising and promoting a realtor's business, among others.





Now that we know the differences between a realtor and a real estate broker, what are some of the benefits of becoming a realtor? There are actually quite a few. For instance, being a realtor allows you to get out into the community and meet people, get a feel for the real estate market, and learn what sells and doesn't sell. Real estate agents are also allowed to enter into contractual agreements with a seller, making it easier to find a buyer for a home. As mentioned before, realtors can also enter into an agreement with a buyer who wishes to purchase a home and hold the property until an agreed upon price is achieved. If the seller agrees, there is usually a limit on the amount of time a realtor has to buy the home.





So if you are interested in becoming a realtor, or are already a realtor, what are some of the benefits you have to gain? Well, as we stated previously, when you work with a real estate professional, you are going to be working with individuals who have years of experience and knowledge in real estate. Because of this, they will be able to provide you with insight into what homes will sell for, where to advertise homes, which neighborhoods are desirable, what type of neighborhood should be purchased, etc. You won't have to spend hours researching real estate yourself, spending time on your own, driving around neighborhoods, and hoping you come across a home to purchase. Working with a realtor, you are also able to save a lot of money - which in today's economy makes real estate very important.
